Graphic Novel Competition 2024

Create a comic strip based on a Greek myth

You can enter in teams of one to three people, but everyone in the team must be in the same age category:

11-13

14-16

17-18

Entries must be no more than one A4 page in size.

Here's a sample entry based on the myth of Orpheus and Eurydice.
It was created by our wonderful Ancient and Modern History student, Anna Payman.

Yours doesn't need to look like this - just use it as inspiration.
You can either tell the whole myth or just choose your favourite detail from it.

Anna has created some templates that you can download and use to help you get started.

You can also create your own if you prefer.

The top 10 entries in each age category will be printed in a hardback, graphic novel-style book and each team member will receive a copy.

The winners will be picked by our special guest judges...

Make sure that your team's entry is no more than 1 A4 page and email it to us at outreachcompetition@classics.ox.ac.uk.

You can attach it as a Word or PDF file, or simply send us a good, clear photo of your creation. Don't send Canva files or anything that needs a password because we won't be able to open them. Just attach your entry to the email.

Only include your namesages and a single contact email. Don't write these on your entry because they'll be judged anonymously.

The last day for entry is Sunday 4 August and entries ***absolutely, definitely*** cannot be accepted after this date.

Please note that although anyone can enter, we can only send the book of winning entries to addresses in the UK.

GOOD LUCK!
