We’re delighted to invite you to the University of Oxford's Classics Teachers’ Day 2026, our annual CPD day designed for teachers of Latin, Greek and Classical Civilisation. This year’s programme is built around the new Latin A Level syllabus, with practical sessions you can take straight back to the classroom.

Programme highlights (all sessions align with A Level Latin set texts/themes):

  • 10:40–11:20 — Vergil, Aeneid 4 — Prof. Matthew Leigh (St Anne’s)

  • 11:20–12:00 — Tacitus, Annales 14 — Prof. Simon Malloch (Wadham)

  • 12:00–12:30 — Introducing Maximum Classics — Charlie Andrew (Director) — ideas for building Classics in feeder primaries

  • 13:45–14:25 — Ovid, Metamorphoses 7 — Dr Gail Trimble (Trinity)

  • 14:25–15:05 — Lucretius, De rerum natura 1 — Dr Barnaby Taylor (Exeter)

  • 15:35–16:15 — Cicero, Pro Roscio — Dr Andrew Sillett (Brasenose)
