Oxford and Cambridge Classics Open Day

oxbridge open day

The Oxford and Cambridge Classics Open Day is held on alternate years in Oxford and Cambridge. It offers a chance to find out more about studying Classics at Oxford and Cambridge with taster lectures, subject stands and lots of opportunities to chat with current students and academics.

On Monday 23 March 2026 it will be held in Cambridge at Lady Mitchell Hall (CB3 9DA).

Admission is strictly by ticket only. Click here to book online or in person tickets.

*Booking for the in-person day for those who have not had the opportunity to study ancient languages at school is available from 29th January.

*Due to limited in-person capacity we kindly ask that if you have already studied ancient languages at school you wait until the 5th February to book*

Who is the day for?
These open days are aimed at students aged 16+ (UK and abroad) interested in pursuing a Classics degree. They offer the chance to find out more about Classical subjects in general, but also the specific degree programmes offered by Oxford and Cambridge.
Can parents and teachers attend?
We will run a teachers and parents session at some point during the day but, for the most part, we will not have the capacity for parents to attend alongside their children. Thank you for your understanding and for helping us provide more places for potential applicants.
How many tickets can I book?
There is no minimum or maximum group size for school groups, but places are limited so we encourage you to book as early as possible. If you are a teacher hoping to bring a school group please contact the organiser on access@classics.cam.ac.uk to reserve spaces.
Is there parking at the venue?
There is NO parking available onsite. There is on-street Pay & Display parking on West Road and Sidgwick Avenue. There is also unregulated on-street parking on some nearby streets including Herschel, Adams and Cranmer Roads. Drivers should aim to collect attendees from West Road at 4pm unless arrangements have been made for your group to see more of Cambridge after the event.
Can I buy lunch on site?
Lunch is not provided. However, there are several cafes close by for you to purchase food or you are welcome to bring a packed lunch.
How much does the event cost?
There is no charge for attending the day. You will, however, be responsible for arranging your own travel to and from the event.
